Creating this piece was a true joy, blending my favorite techniques. It all started on the wheel, where the body of the vase took shape. Then came the real fun: hand-sculpting the head from porcelain. I love bringing these little characters to life, and this harlequin's face emerged with a lovely stoic, innocent, and calm expression, adding a unique depth to its playful form.

After the two parts were fired, I got to work with vibrant underglazes, meticulously painting the classic harlequin diamond pattern. And, of course, no jester is complete without a little sparkle! The final gold luster accents bring out the festive spirit of the piece. But the true, final touch came with the addition of real silver bells. They're not just for looks—they jingle and make music with every touch, adding another layer of magic and fun.

It's this playful mix of wheel-throwing and hand-sculpting, topped with careful painting and a touch of metallic magic and sound, that makes this Harlequin Vase so special to me.
