Our specialized adult pottery classes are designed as focused, four-week short courses, meeting once a week for 2.5-hour sessions suitable for adults and teens 15+. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, each workshop series concentrates on a specific technique or project—from foundational wheel throwing, hand building and sculpting to mastering glaze application and finishing. Join us to slow down, cultivate discipline, unlock your creativity, and create professional-quality, lasting pieces in the tranquil beauty of Mui Wo, on Lantau Island. Course Details & Pricing

Date/Time: Starting Jan. 7th to 29th - Every Wednesday or Thursday, 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Total Lessons: 4 sessions (8 total hours)

Session Duration: 2 Hours per session

Pricing: HK$1840 (All-Inclusive)

What's Included: Unlimited use of clay during sessions, tools, professional instruction, your choice of glazes, and the firing for 4 finished pieces. If you wish to keep more than 4 pieces, additional fees will apply.

Notes on Expectations

  • Patience is Key: The first goal is muscle memory, not perfect pots. Your early pieces are practice, and that's okay!

  • Collection Timeline: The entire process—from throwing the clay to the final glaze firing—takes time. Your finished, food-safe pieces will be ready for collection approximately 3-4 weeks after your final Glazing Session (Lesson 4).

  • Policy: Due to the small class size, we enforce a strict no make-up session policy for missed classes.

  • What to wear: We highly recommend wearing clothing you won't mind getting dirty and closed-toed shoes. We do provide communal aprons to help keep you a little clean. Jewelry such as rings, bracelets, and watches are best left at home. Hair tied up and long nails trimmed are advised for a safe and productive learning experience.

  • ​Become a Studio Member: attended 8 lessons and become eligible to join Members Studio Time and work independently, practice your craft, explore the possibilities without any time constraints.

Wheel Throwing January 2026

Discover the meditative and challenging art of pottery wheel throwing with our all inclusive 4-session course. Designed for absolute beginners, this program gives you hands-on experience on the ceramic process—from raw clay to finished, glazed ware. learn a beautiful, tactile skill that lasts a lifetime.

Your 4-Step Journey to Finished Pottery for Adults and Teens 15+

Each 2 hour session is structured to maximize your time on the wheel, focusing on building crucial muscle memory and technical control.

Lesson 1: Centering and Control

  • Focus: Preparing the clay through wedging, finding your optimal posture, and mastering the fundamental skill of centering the clay mass on the wheel.

  • Goal: Successfully center several mounds of clay and start practicing simple, controlled lifts.

Lesson 2: Raising the Walls – The Basic Form

  • Focus: Learning the two core moves: opening the centered clay to form the base, and pulling the walls upwards to create height and even thickness.

  • Goal: Produce your first basic cylinder shapes—the building blocks for mugs, bowls, and vases.

Lesson 3: Trimming and Refinement

  • Focus: Using specialized tools to trim your dry pieces, refining the shape, and carving a professional foot ring onto the bottom. You will also learn how to add simple mug handles or decorative elements.

  • Goal: Turn your rough creations into polished forms ready for the first (bisque) firing.

Lesson 4: The Final Finish – Self-Glazing Workshop

  • Focus: Learning about glaze chemistry, application techniques (dipping, pouring, layering), and understanding the physics and chemistry of how colors change in the final kiln firing.

Goal: You will personally glaze your four bisque-fired pieces, choosing your colors and making them truly your own.

Can't commit to a full course? We understand. That's why we offer special one-time pottery workshops with flexible booking times, designed to give you a complete hands-on experience in just one session. In this single 2-hour workshop, you'll dive straight into the craft—learning core pottery techniques. We will handle the glazing and firing for you. It's the ideal creative escape for Hong Kong's busy professionals and curious beginners: all the satisfaction of creating with clay, with no long-term commitment. Book your spot for a Saturday afternoon or weekday evening and experience the joy of pottery on your own schedule. Perfect for a unique date, a solo treat, or a fun group activity.
