Focused Ceramic Modules for Adults
Immerse yourself in process-led art at our tranquil Mui Wo studio.
At Lantau Pottery Studio, we believe that mastering clay requires time, presence, and a respect for the material's natural timeline. Moving away from chaotic drop-in sessions, our adult education is structured around fixed-term, 4-week short courses.
By learning alongside a consistent, intimate cohort of peers, you will dive deep into specialized ceramic techniques without having to restart the basics every week.
Enter a process-led, technical journey into Pottery!
The 4-Week Technical Journey
Every 4-week module is structured linearly to take you from raw stoneware to finished, functional, food-safe art. While specific themes rotate (e.g., Wheel Throwing, Slab Building, or Glazing Intensives), our core educational framework remains consistent:
Week 1
Foundations & Shaping
Focus: Understanding your medium. You will master clay preparation (wedging), workspace setup, and the core structural mechanics of your chosen technique (centering and pulling on the wheel, or rolling and joining slabs).
Week 2
Trimming & Refining
Focus: Working with "leather-hard" clay from the previous week. You will learn to use professional steel tools to trim away excess weight, carve neat foot rings, refine profiles, and structurally finish your greenware.
Week 3
Surface & Texture (Bisque Prep)
Focus: Personalizing your pieces. We explore surface alterations, handles, carving, or stamping textures into the clay. Pieces are then left to dry completely for their initial Bisque Firing.
Week 4
The Art of Glazing
Focus: The chemistry of finishing. You will learn to apply studio underglazes, wax-resists, and food-safe dipping glazes to your bisque-fired pieces before they head into the final high-temperature Glaze Firing.
