
Young Potters Summer Workshops 2024
Let your kid’s creativity shine in our July pottery workshops! Each class is 2 hours, Fees include materials, glaze and Kiln firing. projects can usually be collected 3-4 weeks after the workshop, with some exceptions. You will be notified and can come in person to collect your pieces, or have them delivered with SF express (cost of shipping is not included).

WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

July 4th ,5th ,8th ......$1200
Children will start their journey with an introduction to clay as a medium and explore the endless possibilities it offers for creative expression through hand building. Two days will be dedicated to construction using pinching, coiling and modeling techniques, then the following Monday we will do painting with ceramic colors and glazing.

July 11th ,12th ,15th......$1400
Our experienced instructors will guide the young potters through the basic wheel throwing techniques, to make a cylinder and a bowl. With two days dedicated to having messy fun on the pottery wheel. The following Monday will be dedicated to decorating with ceramic colors and glaze.

July 17th ,18th ,19th......$1200
This is a very special workshop in collaboration with “me.me_more_more”. The first Day will be dedicated to making a unique dish from ceramics using slab building, with detail to texture. Day two will introduce the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss ball: Kokedama, children will get to choose from a selection of plants to use in their piece. The third and final day will be dedicated to glazing the dish for your Kokedama.

Painting on pottery is a unique experience and unlike painting on any conventional surface: it can be challenging but the end result is always rewarding. The colors change after being heated to over 1200℃ and are just like any commercially available ceramic: food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe.
